Goalkeeper Sergio Romero made his Manchester United debut in his team’s opening day victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday and put in a superb performance.
Man United got past Tottenham through the solitary own goal from Kyle Walker and Romero notched himself a clean sheet in his first gmae at Old Trafford.
Romero was troubled early on by Christian Eriksen, but the Dane couldn’t quite lift the ball over United’s new ‘keeper.
Without their first-choice goalkeeper in David de Gea, United fans had to settle for Romero and were satisfied with the performance he put in:
Romero dodgy with his distribution at times but looked to make good stops later on. Utterly ridiculous situation that he's starting though.

Romero made some decent saves but scared me with the odd walkabout. Hopefully we can show more attacking intent at Villa Park.

Romero did well overall, made a couple of decent saves to preserve his clean sheet

Surprised about how calm Sergio Romero was. Controlled his area, seemed confident on ball (though not succesful) and made a few vital stops.

With De Gea’s future still uncertain, United fans will be hoping Romero can prove his worth as a United goalkeeper.
Despite some questionable distribution, the Argentine managed to keep a clean sheet and seemed comfortable when Spurs threw all their men forward towards the end.
A solid performance is exactly what Romero needed on his Old Trafford debut and his first display in a United shirt will give the supporters confidence, knowing they have a potential alternative to De Gea already in their ranks.
