Pedro’s agent says there’s no news about potential Manchester United move

Pedro’s agent Antonio Sanz insists there is no news on a move to Manchester United but does not feel now is the right time to discuss his future.

Angel di Maria’s move to Paris St-Germain means Louis van Gaal is in need of a direct replacement which could well be Pedro as he is currently unhappy at Barcelona due to a lack of regular first-team football.

United’s pursuit of FC Barcelona’s Pedro has intensified over the last few weeks to the point where various outlets are reporting that a deal has already been agreed.

When asked whether there was any news about a move to United, Pedro said: “At the moment there is no news about Pedro, we’ll see.”

If Pedro’s agent doesn’t think now is the right time to discuss Pedro’s future, that stance could change after Barcelona’s Super Cup game on Tuesday evening.

On paper, Pedro does look like the perfect player for Van Gaal’s system because he is versatile. Like Memphis Depay, he’s more than comfortable playing in more than one position in attack and ‘multi-functional’ players are exactly what Van Gaal likes.

United have done some excellent business in the current transfer window but they have to make sure they replace Di Maria immediately and, at this point in time, Pedro certainly looks the most likely option.
