Barcelona legend Hristo Stoichkov believes that Pedro should ignore the advances of Manchester United and the ‘destructive’ Louis van Gaal.
Man United are reportedly on the verge of signing Pedro, although the potential transfer has been delayed by Neymar’s illness.
Stoichkov was one of the world’s best players during his time at Barcelona in the 1990s but he blames van Gaal for his eventual departure from the Spanish club.
The Bulgarian called van Gaal “scum” back in March and he has continued his feud with the experienced manager.
“I would never be under the orders of [Louis] Van Gaal. He’s mediocre. He destroyed Barca and is destroying Man United,” Stoichkov said.
“With what he has done to [Victor] Valdes he has shown he is a bad person. Hopefully Pedro listens to me and doesn’t leave.”
There have been some supporters who have questioned van Gaal’s man management in the wake of Angel di Maria’s and Robin van Persie’s departures from Old Trafford but it is clear that he just has the team’s best interests at heart.
Van Gaal has a history of upsetting players but he also has a history of winning trophies at the highest level. It’s difficult to question a manager with a record such as his.
