Fernando Torres believes Barcelona forward Pedro has “everything” needed to make himself a success in the Premier League.
Pedro has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United due to a lack of game time at Barcelona last season.
However, a number of Barcelona players have publicly revealed that they want him to stay at the Spanish club.
Former Liverpool and Chelsea striker Torres backed Pedro to do well wherever he ends up.
“He is a good friend, and if he decides that England is the next step in his career, I am sure he will do very well there,” he said.
“He has all the ability you would expect from a player who has been at Barcelona for so many years, but also he has a great work ethic.
“He works hard, he will help defend, he won’t be bullied, he has everything to succeed in The Premier League.
“I think he will find it very hard to leave Barcelona, but I understand as much as anybody how important it is to be playing regularly — especially once you reach a certain age. You need to be at a club where you are playing a lot of football.”
Torres is absolutely right that Pedro should be doing all he can to play first-team football regularly.
At 28-years-old, Pedro is entering his peak years, which he will not want to spend wasting away on the substitute’s bench. It is unlikely that he will usurp Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez or Neymar in the starting XI anytime soon, whereas he will be handed a starring role at Old Trafford.
