Sergio Busquets wants Pedro to stay at Barcelona despite the winger’s lack of playing time at the Spanish club.
It has become evident that Pedro is torn between staying at a club he loves and moving somewhere where he can play regular first-team football.
He has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United for much of the summer.
Busquets understands the player’s frustrations but admitted he would make Pedro stay if it was up to him.
“I am selfish and I want Pedro to stay. We are friends and he gives a lot to the team,” Busquets said.
“Until there is any official word, the entire team hopes he will stay here. It is a difficult moment for him, but we wish him all the best.
“He wants to stay at Barcelona, but he also wants regular playing time, like every player in the world. I hope that whatever happens is what’s best for him.
“He will always give his all for the team, whether he stays here or moves on. It is up to him to make a decision. He will continue to give his all for the team right until the end.”
While it is understandable that Pedro is torn between his head and his heart, a decision will have to be made by either the player or the club in the coming days.
It is an exciting time at United in this phase of rebuilding but if Pedro cannot decide, a line has to be drawn by the club and an ultimatum issued. With Louis van Gaal entering his second year as the manager of United, he will want a focused squad as early as possible.
