Adnan Januzaj: I want to stay at Manchester United and fight for my place

Manchester United forward Adnan Januzaj has insisted he wants to stay at Old Trafford despite rumours surrounding his future.

Januzaj has been linked with loan moves to Sunderland and Everton in recent weeks but he was a surprise inclusion in the starting XI against Aston Villa on Friday.

He went on to score in the 1-0 victory, although his overall play was lacking in parts.

Following the game, Januzaj rubbished suggestions he could leave United.

“I hope to have more games in my legs and hopefully score more goals,” he said.

“It was only rumours [linking with a move away]. I’m happy here. I’m going to fight for my place.”

Januzaj currently faces competition from the likes of Memphis Depay, Juan Mata and Ashley Young while the expected arrival of Barcelona forward Pedro could limit his chances further.

Despite this, it is good to hear him say he wants to fight for his place. The Belgian has bags of talent and appears to have an attitude to match. He should get ample opportunity to impress now that United are back in the Champions League.
