Bastian Schweinsteiger‘s performance against Aston Villa epitomised exactly why he was such an important signing for Manchester United.
From then onwards United were in almost total control and Villa struggled to cope, thanks largely to the German veteran in midfield.
One picture in particular summed up Schweinsteiger’s role at United perfectly:
Schweinsteiger is a professional in every sense of the word and there isn’t anybody in United’s squad better placed to take Memphis under his wing and teach him a thing or two.
Having won it all at Bayern Munich, Schweinsteiger left to chase something new in a fresh challenge so in that sense there are some similarities and Memphis needs mentors like him around if he is to succeed fully at United.
So far this season, Schweinsteiger has made two substitute appearances from the bench but as he closes in on full fitness, it isn’t long before he starts his first game.
It begs the question – does Schweinsteiger become part of the starting XI when fit? The fans would certainly be happy with that.
