Manchester United made it two wins from two last night against Aston Villa with a 1-0 victory thanks to Adnan Januzaj.

Overall, it was an improved performance from Man United and Louis van Gaal was very pleased to keep Villa’s attacking threat at bay.

There was one stand-out performer for United Peoples TV’s Dan Townley and that was Matteo Darmian who he chose as his man of the match.

Once again, the Italian right-back was composed in defence and posed a real threat in attack on the right flank with his overlapping runs. It’s such a vital position in Van Gaal’s system and in the last two games Darmian has shown he is a far more rounded right-back than Antonio Valencia could ever be.

As for the wooden spoon, Wayne Rooney was awarded that without a moments hesitation. United’s captain was laboured, slow and effectively useless. He deserves to be heavily criticised for how he played against Aston Villa.
