Manchester United kick-off their crucial Champions League qualifier against Club Brugge tonight and Louis van Gaal will be extremely pleased at the current injury situation.
Phil Jones will miss the Brugge game with thrombosis that is likely to keep him sidelined for a few weeks but apart from that, Van Gaal has a full squad at his disposal.
That means Marcos Rojo is either available for selection seeing as he trained with the squad this week or is closing in on his return to the team, having missed the season so far after being given an extended break.
Bastian Schweinsteiger has been playing and training well since suffering a minor calf injury on the pre-season tour and is now not far away from full fitness. That’s huge news for Man United because he is likely to be an extremely influential player this season.
Up front, Javier Hernandez has no injury concerns so is a viable alternative to Wayne Rooney up front if Van Gaal wants to change it up but in such an important Champions League fixture, he’s probably unlikely to drop his captain.
Tonight’s game is so important for United. The idea of missing out on the Champions League through these qualifiers is unthinkable but over the two legs, they are heavy favourites and everybody is expecting them to win.
Kick-off is at 7.45pm GMT and the game is live on BT Sport.
