Manchester United manager Louis can Gaal is sure his side will improve over the course of the season.

Despite winning their opening two games of the season, Man United have failed to really set the world alight and have looked slightly laboured at times.

The Reds have only managed two goals from three shots on targetin 180 minutes of football this season, but the manager is not worried about his team’s performances.

Speaking ahead of United’s crucial Champions League playoff against Club Brugge on Tuesday, Van Gaal emphasised the faith he has in his squad.

“We have a long way to go this season, but we have had a better start than last year and also two clean sheets.” he said.

“That says about our structure and balance, so I have confidence that we will develop ourselves to a much higher level and I expect that also from my players.”

United at times showed more attacking creativity against Villa than they did on the opening day against Tottenham Hotspur, yet still only managed the solitary goal.

Despite this, the Reds are still one of only three teams with 100% records in the Premier League so far this season.

Van Gaal now turns his attention to Europe and will hope that his side can kickstart their season with an impressive performance over Brugge at Old Trafford.
