From Spain: Chelsea have agreed deal to sign Pedro Rodriguez

by Sam Peoples

Manchester United have been trying to agree a deal with FC Barcelona for Pedro Rodriguez over the last few weeks but widespread reports in Spain today suggest Chelsea have swooped to steal him.

Both and Marca, as well as Mundo Deportivo and Radio Catalunya, are all saying Chelsea have agreed a €28m plus €2m bonuses deal with Barcelona to sign Pedro.

Man United offered €25m plus €5m but if reports from Spain today are correct, Chelsea’s offer has beaten that and Pedro will be moving to Stamford Bridge.

It would represent a significant steal by Chelsea if they manage to swoop in and sign Pedro ahead of United.
Immediately, the stance from United is that Louis van Gaal decided to end his interest in Pedro.

On paper, Pedro looks like the perfect player for Van Gaal’s system and style of play yet, so to hear the United boss withdrew his interest in him is a confusing situation all round.

We’ll be following the story as it develops today but all the reports coming out of Spain all say that Pedro is moving to Chelsea and not United.
