Manchester United’s Memphis Depay disappointed not to score more against Club Brugge

Manchester United forward Memphis Depay has revealed he was disappointed not to score more goals in his side’s 3-1 win against Club Brugge at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

The Dutchman produced a superb display, scoring twice and setting up Marouane Fellaini for Man United’s third.

It was a fantastic performance from Memphis and one that delighted the Old Trafford faithful.

However, the player himself expressed his disappointment at missing two good chances late on in the game.

“It is really important we won the game,” Memphis said.

“We created a lot of chances, I feel disappointed I could not finish the last two chances. We have to travel to Brugge and finish the job.

“I ended last season with a lot of goals, come to a big club and you have to do a good job again. It is a nice feeling to score two goals at Old Trafford. I am little disappointed because I will think about that last chance.”

It is a testament to Memphis’ character that he is focusing on the missed opportunities rather than the brilliant moments that he produced.

He really does strive for nothing short of perfection, which is fantastic to see from a United player. It is a similar attitude to the one that a certain Cristiano Ronaldo had, and we all know how that turned out.
