Rafik Zekhnini wants Manchester United move amid reports of opening bid

Norwegian winger Rafik Zekhnini has admitted it would be hard to turn down a move to Manchester United but insisted he was fully focused with his current club Odds BK.

Reports from Norway on Saturday said Man United had submitted a €3m bid for the 17-year-old winger.

Odds BK CEO Einar Håndlykken denied there had been any specific bid for Zekhnini yet but answered ‘no comment’ when asked whether he had any contact with United.

Speaking to Nettavisen, Zekhnini reiterated that United was his favourite club and it would be difficult to reject a bid if it came in.

“My focus is 100 percent on Odds BK,” he said.

“Yes, Manchester United is my favourite club and it would be difficult to say no to them if there was a bid. Nevertheless, I am in Odds BK now and enjoy being here. This is where I have my focus.”

That’s as close to a ‘come and get me’ quote as you’re ever likely to see and it looks like United are obliging, if reports from Norway are correct.

United are always actively looking around Europe to bring in some talented youngsters and Zekhnini looks to be the latest youngster who the club are trying to bring into the academy.

The fact he has openly admitted United is his favourite club makes a huge difference and if he was to join, he’d have even more desire than normal to succeed because he is with the team he supports. Especially at a young age, that can prove to be a powerful driving force.
