Everton step up interest in Manchester United’s Adnan Januzaj – report

by Sam Koster

Everton have stepped up their interest in securing a loan deal for Adnan Januzaj, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The report suggests that Roberto Martinez is a long-term admirer of the 20-year-old Belgian and believes that he can secure the youngster’s services on loan for the season.

Januzaj fell behind the likes of Ashley Young and Juan Mata in the pecking order at Man United last term after impressing in David Moyes’ only season in charge a couple of years ago.

Louis van Gaal has handed Januzaj three consecutive starts this season and he scored the winning goal against Aston Villa earlier this month.

However, there is a sense that Januzaj needs to do more if he is to maintain his place in the starting XI.

The likes of Andreas Pereira and Jesse Lingard are also vying for game time under van Gaal and they may well be given chances in the future.

Whether Januzaj leaves Old Trafford or not remains to be seen but if he does stay, it is crucial that van Gaal places 100% faith in him so he can fully realise his potential.
