West Brom have officially confirmed they rejected a written transfer request from Saido Berahino.
The striker has been the subject of interest from both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur over the course of the summer transfer window and is now clearly intent on leaving West Brom if he can.
It comes as no surprise to see West Brom rejecting Berahino’s initial transfer request and they’ll now be embroiled in a to and fro situation with him between now and the end of the summer.
Berahino wants to leave but West Brom have no intention of letting their best asset leave without a fight, so it’s a smart move from them to publicly announce they have rejected a transfer request.

At this moment in time, Spurs is considered to be the most likely destination for Berahino but with United in need of a new striker, will Louis van Gaal show an interest in bringing him to Old Trafford?
Berahino has shown his calibre in the Premier League but he falls some way short of the ‘world class’ bracket of players which Van Gaal is intent on signing, so some may consider Berahino a similar player to Javier Hernandez in terms of where he’d be in the pecking order at United.
Do you think there is any chance Manchester United will pursue Saido Berahino this summer?
