Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has handed Ander Herrera his first start of the season for the Champions League playoff second leg clash against Club Brugge this evening.

Herrera has been limited to appearances from the substitute’s bench so far this term and he will no doubt be eager to impress following his inclusion in the starting XI.

Michael Carrick also starts, meaning Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger drop to the bench.

Elsewhere, Sergio Romero continues in goal as David de Gea has once again not been included in the squad.

Daley Blind lines up alongside Chris Smalling at the heart of defence, while Adnan Januzaj continues his run of games in the first-team. It is a strong XI and one that should be capable of seeing Man United through to the Champions League group stages. However, van Gaal will undoubtedly remind his players against complacency.
