Juan Mata was delighted to help Manchester United into the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.
A convincing 4-0 win on the night (7-1 on aggregate) over Club Brugge saw Man United reclaim their spot in the all important group stages of Europe’s elite competition.
The Spaniard started the game on the right wing, just as he has in all the other games this season. Out wide, he showed signs that he is becoming more accustomed to his new role, as he put in a clinical and efficient performance to help Man United negotiate their passage into the biggest club competition in Europe.
The 27-year-old played a delightful through ball to Wayne Rooney for the skipper to net his hat-trick and he showed just how happy he was for the England and United captain.
Mata will now get his first taste of groups stage Champions League football for the Reds since moving from Chelsea and he is bound to be a key player for Louis van Gaal when the competition kicks off.

Thoughts will now turn to the draw for the group stage on Thursday, where United will find out which of Europe’s elite they will be playing over the next four months.
