Paul Scholes unhappy with David de Gea: “He is out of order”

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has had his say on the David De Gea transfer saga.

De Gea is yet to play for Man United this season amid speculation that Real Madrid want to acquire the goalkeeper. In his place, new signing Sergio Romero has kept four clean sheets and the Reds have only conceded the solitary goal in five games so far this year.

It’s situation which has frustrated a lot of United fan because with less than two weeks left in the window there is still a huge amount of uncertainty as to whether he will stay.

Scholes opened up about the situation and made his feelings towards the goalkeeper perfectly clear. Speaking on BT Sport after United defeated Club Brugge 4-0 to reach the group stage of the Champions League, the 40-year-old didn’t hold back.

“How can you lose focus?” Scholes said.

“That’s the thing for me. He is getting paid by this club, it is a brilliant club.

“They paid a lot of money on a young keeper to give him this chance. If the manager is right and says he has lost focus then yeah, I think he is out of order.

“He should be in that team playing. If it wasn’t for him last year, they probably wouldn’t be in this position tonight so they have to thank him for that.”

Scholes is right that De Gea should not be refusing to play for United until the situation is resolved, especially for the wages he is on.

Manager van Gaal has said that the club will revisit the situation after the transfer window closes and the Dutchman is adamant De Gea will not be sold.

Despite being United’s player of the season last year, De Gea has hardly been missed by the side so far this season. What remains to be seen is whether he still has a part to play for the Reds this season.
