Manchester United defender Tyler Blackett‘s move to Celtic on a season-long loan deal has been confirmed.
The youngster, who broke into Man United’s first team last season, has found opportunities few and far between so far this year and a move to the Scottish champions could prove ideal for his development.
With Celtic defender Virgil Van Dijk reportedly close to a move to Southampton, they are in need of central defensive cover and they have identified Blackett as the man to provide it.
The youngster made 11 appearances for United last season but he now seems to have moved below Paddy McNair in the pecking order of Reds centre-backs.

Celtic failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stage after falling to Swedish side Malmo, meaning Blackett will get the opportunity to ply his trade in the Europa League.
The 21-year-old has already spent spells on loan at both Blackpool and Birmingham City and he will be hoping his time in Scotland this season can propel him to a regular spot in United’s first team.
However, with Johnny Evans’ move to West Bromwich Albion all but confirmed, it may be a sign that United themselves are confident of securing the services of another central defender before the transfer window closes on Monday night.
