Manchester United’s Ander Herrera receives warm reviews from supporters despite Swansea City defeat

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera had a positive game despite his side’s 2-1 defeat against Swansea City on Sunday.

The Spaniard began the game in the No.10 role behind Wayne Rooney and looked bright in the first half. After performing well against Club Brugge in midweek, Herrera kept his place and justified Louis van Gaal‘s decision to keep him in the side.

The 26-year-old was substituted in the 77th minute for Marouane Fellaini as Man United chased an equaliser and was ultimately helpless as his side fell to their first defeat of the season.

United fans and pundits were delighted to see Herrera start alongside Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin and they made their feelings known regarding his performance:

Herrera, having not been called up to the Spanish national side, can now enjoy a two week break before United face Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Now that he has broken into the side, the midfielder will want to do enough to keep his place in van Gaal’s starting lineup. United were collectively poor against Swansea but fans will take solace in the fact that Herrera was possibly one of the more impressive performers on the day.
