Manchester United agree fee for Newport County youngster Regan Poole

Manchester United have agreed a fee for 17-year-old Newport County defender Regan Poole ahead of a move which could be worth up to £400,000 based on appearances, according to MailOnline.

Poole is currently on his way to Man United’s Carrington training ground to undergo a medical.

He has spent time training at both United and Liverpool but it appears the former have won the race for his signature.

Fulham also reportedly made a bid for Poole but it was turned down.

The defender is unlikely to be the only teenager United sign on deadline day, with 19-year-old Anthony Martial also expected to complete a transfer to Old Trafford.

However, Martial will be ever so slightly more expensive than Poole, with numerous reports suggesting United will pay £36m for his services.

It is good to see United building for the future but they would be wise to fix their more immediate problems with established talent. Regardless, it is a fantastic opportunity for Poole and one that he should grab with both hands.
