Monaco have told Canal+ that Manchester United have shelled out €80m for French teenager Anthony Martial.
The 19-year-old is believed to have completed his medical on Monday night after flying to Manchester when the French Football Federation completing his medical this afternoon after being granted him permission to leave international duty in order to finalise the move.
Martial’s transfer has proven divisive. Former defender Phil Neville believes that Martial is an excellent signing for United, while some supporters are sceptical about a relatively unknown prodigy coming to Old Trafford for such a high fee.
Elsewhere, £36m has been the quoted fee but at €80m, those questions would be asked even more so about whether Martial is a good deal for United.

As football’s most expensive teenager, Martian will have to handle some serious pressure like Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo did in their early days at Old Trafford.
Regardless of the final price, United are taking a massive gamble in placing their faith in a largely unproven striker at the moment.
While undoubtedly promising, Martian is far from the proven striker who many felt United needed and there is no guarantees of success.
He could indeed turn out to be a superstar for United but equally so he could follow Luke Shaw‘s curve and take a long time to settle at the club, something which wouldn’t help the current issue of a lack of goals up front.
