Manchester United announce full Champions League squad

Manchester United have announced their full squad for the Champions League group stages.

Fans will be delighted to see David de Gea‘s name in the squad but fellow goalkeeper Victor Valdes has been left out by Louis van Gaal.

New boy Anthony Martial has been named in the squad as expected.

There are a couple of other surprises in the squad as Guillermo Varela and Nick Powell have both been named in the main squad.

Fellow youngsters James Wilson, Andreas Pereira and Paddy McNair have all been named in the B-list which is allowed for players born on or after 1 January 1994.

Here is the squad in full:

Goalkeepers: David de Gea, Sergio Romero, Sam Johnstone

Defenders: Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo, Chris Smalling, Luke Shaw, Guillermo Varela, *Paddy McNair, Matteo Darmian

Midfielders: Michael Carrick, Daley Blind, Ashley Young, Ander Herrera, Nick Powell, Antonio Valencia, Marouane Fellaini, Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Jesse Lingard, *Andreas Pereira

Attackers: Wayne Rooney, Memphis, Juan Mata, Anthony Martial, *James Wilson
