David de Gea arrived at Spain’s training camp yesterday ahead of their upcoming games in the international break.

There’s no question that De Gea expected to arrive as a Real Madrid player but after one of the most unforeseen twists in a Man United transfer window, his move collapsed at the last minute.

Was it United’s fault or Real Madrid’s? Both clubs lay the blame at the foot of the other but all United fans care about is the fact De Gea is still a red. That’s what matters.

Nobody knows what sort of mental state De Gea is going to be in having kept silent for so long during the summer only to then have the move he wanted collapse, but we’re confident he will quickly put it behind him.

Vicente del Bosque has immediately come out to say that De Gea is in danger of not being Spain’s No.1 at Euro 2016 if he doesn’t play regular first-team football, so he should be focused almost straight away.

Becoming Spain’s No.1 was more than likely another big reason why he was so keen to move to Madrid this summer but he can easily achieve that from Manchester.

Now it’s up to him to show Louis van Gaal, and his team-mates, that he is ready to put the past behind him, pick his gloves back up and recapture the same form which made him such a brilliant goalkeeper last year.
