Anthony Martial is delighted to have made his France debut and is looking forward to the future both with club and country.
The 19-year-old made his debut on Friday night to complete one of the biggest weeks in his young career having secured a move to Manchester United at the end of the transfer window.
There is a real buzz over his signing, mainly due to the fact he is an exciting yet unknown entity, and he ‘could not be more happy’ after getting his first opportunity with the French national team.
Speaking about France’s 1-0 win over Portugal, Martial said: “We won, that is the most important thing.
“I came on, I could not be more happy. It is a great honour. It was a bit like the Champions League, there was a lot of intensity.
“I gave what was necessary. And we won. Of course it is different from with the U21s and the youth teams. I am very happy to be here, I hope for regular call-ups whilst playing well for my club.”
Martial now has just over a week before what could potentially be his Man United debut and what a game that could be up against Liverpool at Old Trafford.
He’ll experience the full force of United’s support in his first game up against our biggest rivals and there wouldn’t be a better way for him to start his career than with a goal against Liverpool in front of the Stretford End.
