Manchester United midfielder Nick Powell is set to re-join training with the rest of the squad after a long injury lay-off.
The 21-year-old has suffered a whole host of injuries, including undergoing knee surgery, since returning to Man United from his loan spell at Leicester City.
It has been almost 28 weeks since Powell played any competitive football and his return to training will be welcomed by those at the club.
The Englishman signed for United from Crewe Alexandra in 2012 and he even scored on his home debut at Old Trafford. Since then, however, Powell has had loan spells at both Wigan Athletic and Leicester and his only appearance for the Reds since is debut was in the 4-0 defeat to MK Dons last season.
Powell has been named in both United’s Premier League and Champions League squads, which shows the faith placed in him by manager Louis van Gaal.

An attacking midfielder with plenty of potential, the youngster will be hoping that the large number of games United have this season will see him getting plenty of first-team football once he is fully fit.
After such a long time out with injury, a return to training could still mean that Powell is far from being back in action for the Reds. However, it is a step in the right direction and he will be looking to put in the hard work and play his way into Van Gaal’s thinking for the rest of the season.
