“Bastian, your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to make sure Thomas Muller joins Manchester United next summer.”
Manchester United fans will be hoping this was the message given to Bastian Schweinsteiger as he went away on international duty with Germany.
After uploading a picture of himself playing table tennis with Muller, it must mean the German captain has convinced the Bayern Munich man to join United, right?
Muller would be a dream signing for the Reds and reports suggest that the club even had an astronomical bid for the forward rejected by Bayern. However, after already securing the services of Schweinsteiger from the Bavarians, United fans were bound to get their hopes up, albeit slightly, when rumours of a move for Muller appeared.
The move failed to materialise but with Muller still only 25 years old, Reds supporters will retain hope of some day signing the prolific striker, no matter how fantastical it seems in logical terms.
If Muller ever does join United, one can rest assured that Schweinsteiger will have a huge part to play in his decision. With rumours building up over the course of the transfer window about a potential transfer for Muller, the pair must have spoken about the possibility of the Bayern man switching allegiances.
