Memphis Depay and Daley Blind’s Netherlands on verge of Euro 2016 qualification exit

Netherlands suffered a terrible 3-0 defeat to Turkey on Sunday night which leaves them on the verge of missing out on a place in Euro 2016 next summer.

Both Memphis Depay and Daley Blind started for the Netherlands but neither of them had particularly good games, much like the whole Dutch squad.

Netherlands now need to win all their remaining games plus Turkey to drop points against either the Czech Republic or Iceland for them to have any chance of qualifying.

For Manchester United fans, it was frustrating to see both players on the receiving end of a second defeat in the international break. What has happened to the Netherlands side who Louis van Gaal steered to third place at the 2014 World Cup?

Barring suffering an injury, it’s pretty much the worst international break Memphis and Blind could have asked for, especially the latter seeing as his father is the Netherlands coach.

With Liverpool coming up on Saturday, van Gaal will want Blind and Memphis back in Manchester as soon as possible so they are as prepared as they can be for what is sure to be a tough game at Old Trafford.

Hopefully the poor international break won’t have too much of an effect on either player seeing as they are likely to be in the starting XI.
