Manchester United’s Juan Mata ‘looking forward’ to Liverpool game

by Robbie Dunne

Juan Mata has arrived back in Manchester following a successful spell with Spain on international duty and is ready for the visit of Liverpool this Saturday.

Manchester United beat Liverpool home and away in the Premier League last season having beat them 3-0 at Old Trafford and 2-1 at Anfield.

Mata will have fond memories of last year’s game at Old Trafford when he put his side up 2-0 just before half time with a close range header.

The tricky Spaniard also grabbed two memorable goals in the return tie at Anfield, eventually picking up the Man of the Match award. The game has since become infamous after Steven Gerrard was sent off within minutes of coming on as a second half sub for a stamp on Ander Herrera.

With neither team starting the season quite as they might have liked, you can expect a fiery affair for the late kickoff on Saturday.

Mata is poised to keep his place in United’s lineup and he might even be deployed in a more central position with new signing Anthony Martial and Memphis Depay taking up positions on the flanks.

United need an injection in their attack and Mata might be the man to give it to them. Mata’s post on Instagram should get United fans excited. He appears to enjoy playing against Liverpool and this weekend’s clash should be no different.
