Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal reveals Andreas Pereira injury

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has revealed that Andreas Pereira is the only one of his players to have come back from international duty with an injury.

Michael Carrick had to pull out of England’s squad to face Switzerland earlier this week due to a knock but he has recovered in time for the Liverpool game on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Phil Jones is still out of action due to mild thrombosis in his leg.

Van Gaal provided an injury update in an interview with MUTV.

“Only Pereira came back from internationals with an injury. Carrick can play. Jones is still injured but he’s going well,” van Gaal said.

The hope is that Pereira’s injury is not too serious. Now that Adnan Januzaj has left on loan to Borussia Dortmund, the young Brazilian should get some more opportunities to impress.

Other than that, United are in good shape heading into the game against Liverpool. The same cannot be said for Brendan Rodgers men, as players such as Jordan Henderson, Christian Benteke and Joe Allen are all said to be fitness doubts.
