De Gea was reportedly eager to move to Real Madrid in order to be closer to Edurne but after his transfer fell through on deadline day, his girlfriend has remained supportive.
The 24-year-old has pledged his future to Man United and the fact that Edurne is so encouraging comes as a surprise to many.
Reports suggested that being closer to his girlfriend was one of the major reasons De Gea wanted to transfer back to his hometown but it now seems that she will not be getting her wish.

However, the Spaniard’s new deal at United is great news for fans of the club, as their player of the season for the past two years has finally agreed to stay.
Throughout the summer, speculation of a move to Madrid circled with Edurne largely refusing to get involved but, now that De Gea has signed, it can all be put to bed. The goalkeeper will definitely have the support of the fans should he play against Liverpool on Saturday, as United gear up for their biggest game of the season thus far.
