Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea was welcomed back by fans during the 3-1 win over Liverpool.
The Spaniard, who was making his first appearance of the season, showed Man United supporters exactly what they had been missing, making two outstanding saves when called upon.
It was a huge boost to have De Gea starting in in goal again, having signed a new four-year contract with United on Friday. The fans at Old Trafford continuously chanted his name and he repaid their faith with a stellar performance.
De Gea's name read out last on the PA system. Huge applause from the #MUFC fans

After Sergio Romero‘s poor performance against Swansea in United’s last Premier League game, it will be a huge relief for fans of the club to have their number one back in goal. Despite the transfer deadline day debacle involving De Gea, the 24-year-old seems to be focused on his Old Trafford career.
With Chris Smalling and Daley Blind showing signs of forming a formidable centre-back pairing, having De Gea behind them could mean United are extremely difficult to get past this season. While the team have been slightly laboured in their forward play this campaign, the defence have remained resolute and adding De Gea to that unit can only be beneficial.
The ex-Atletico man will hope to keep his place in the starting lineup, as United turn their attention to the Champions League and a trip to Eindhoven to play PSV on Tuesday.
