Predicted XI: Manchester United vs PSV

by Sam Peoples

David de Gea – He’ll be our No.1 goalkeeper all season now so long as he can stay fit.

Luke Shaw – Have to wonder whether burnout could become an issue for Shaw at some point? Until then, he’s a certain starter.

Chris Smalling – Chris Beckenbauer or Franz Smalling? You decide.

Daley Blind – Man of the match against Liverpool and will be happy playing back in his homeland.

Matteo Darmian – Mr. Consistent. Loves a good 7/10 performance.

Morgan Schneiderlin – Would be surprised to see him left out of two consecutive starting XI’s.

Bastian Schweinsteiger – United’s Fussball Meister.

Ander Herrera – Think he’s slowly improving with each game. Fearless penalty will put him in Louis van Gaal‘s good books.

Juan Mata – Has been playing well at right-wing, not incredibly but well, and there really is no competition for that position.

Memphis Depay – Big night for Memphis up against his old team.

Anthony Martial – If van Gaal plays his strongest XI for games, Martial simply has to be in it. End of discussion.

Formation: 4-2-3-1: It’s a European away game and having that extra midfielder will protect the defence. Will use the pace up front to hit on the counter-attack.
