Martial started the game up front in the absence of Wayne Rooney and performed admirably. The Frenchman was one of the few standout performers for Man United on the night with some brilliant hold up play.
The 19-year-old linked up well with Memphis Depay and was unlucky to be on the losing side. Louis van Gaal has urged for patience with Martial but it is proving tough for supporters to keep their excitement under wraps.
United fans were certainly happy to see their new signing in action:
At least Martial looked a class act. Enjoyed watching him tonight. He's going to have defenders running scared.

Martial looked class – really adds another dimension. Promising link-up between him and Memphis too. Lot to be optimistic about there

Having burst onto the scene with his stunning solo effort against Liverpool, Martial has made a bright start to life at United. He will be hoping to go from strength to strength and continue to get a good run of games in the side.
The former Monaco striker displayed his strength, power and pace against PSV and was heavily involved in United’s link up play. The early signs are good, as Martial already seems to be working up a good understanding with the rest of the team.
The youngster will hope to continue his good form when United travel to Southampton on Sunday. With a Premier League goal already under his belt, Martial will want the chance to add to his tally and prove exactly why van Gaal spent so much money on him.
