Manchester United have confirmed that Luke Shaw underwent surgery on his injury in Eindhoven on Tuesday night.
It was initially thought that the youngster would undergo an operation on his return to Manchester but he ended up having the procedure in Holland.
“Manchester United are grateful for the excellent care he is receiving and would like to thank everyone who has sent messages of support. A further update will be provided in due course.”
Meanwhile, The Times’ James Ducker revealed Man United are optimistic that the injury won’t keep Shaw out for too long:
Interesting Shaw had operation last night. Road to recovery starts here. There's hope it will be less than six months #mufc

The result against PSV almost became irrelevant once Shaw left the pitch on a stretcher while receiving oxygen.
One of United’s standout players so far this season, the news of his injury came as a bitter blow to supporters. Thankfully, Shaw has age on his side and he should be able to recover. Whether or not he plays for United again this season remains to be seen.
