Manchester United eye Leeds left-back Charlie Taylor – report

by Ben Topliss

Manchester United are keeping tabs on Leeds left-back Charlie Taylor and could make a move for him in January, according to the Daily Star.

Louis van Gaal has reportedly sent scouts to watch the 21-year-old, who has been earning rave reviews, several times.

Man United were planning on making a bid for him next summer but the horror injury Luke Shaw suffered in the 2-1 defeat against PSV Eindhoven may convince the club to make a £4m move in January.

United finally looked to have a reliable and consistent back four but Shaw’s injury has left van Gaal’s options limited.

Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind are both capable of playing in the position but neither are natural left-backs.

Bringing in Taylor could prove to be a shrewd move until Shaw returns to full fitness. It’s safe to say that United supporters won’t know too much about him but players such as Matteo Darmian were relatively unknown before they burst onto the scene at Old Trafford.
