Former Man United and Netherlands striker van Nistelrooy is currently the assistant manager of the Dutch national side.

Louis van Gaal has brought the likes of Memphis Depay and Daley Blind to Old Trafford since he took charge of the club and he also has five Dutchman among his coaching staff.

Van Nistelrooy believes having so many of his compatriots at United is only good for the country’s football.

When asked about the amount of Dutchman at United, van Nistelrooy said: ”It’s good. I’m happy to see players and coaches from the Netherlands at clubs like United. It is only good for Dutch football.

“Of course, it’s impossible not to [watch United] for me. I’ve followed them ever since [I left] and I am interested now to see them back in the Champions League and making a good start in the Premier League.

“It was a good win against Liverpool. I saw that game with [Anthony] Martial scoring a great goal. Memphis and Daley are there, putting in their qualities, and they have had a good season so far. Hopefully, they can bring more to the team as well.”

Van Gaal oversaw a third-placed finish with the Netherlands at the World Cup in 2014 but the national side have suffered since the experienced coach left for United and their qualification hopes for Euro 2016 hang by a thread. Nevertheless, it is good to see the country’s best talent plying their trade at Old Trafford.
