Anthony Martial ‘thanks God’ after brilliant goalscoring brace against Southampton

Anthony Martial has ‘thanked God’ after his performance in Manchester United’s 3-2 win over Southampton.

The French youngster scored Man United’s equaliser with a quite brilliant turn and finish inside Southampton’s box and followed it up to make it 2-1 with a supremely composed finish after a poor back pass put him clean through.

For a teenager to have made such an impact at United, especially after he was written off by so many due to his price tag, it really is quite remarkable.

Everybody is trying to keep their feet on the ground with Martial but he is doing his best to raise expectations with every performance.

It’s very early doors for Martial in his United but career but he could hardly have started any better, so managing the hype is going to become difficult if he continues this strong start and maintains this level of performance.

Fans were willing to be very patient with Martial because of the massive pressure on his shoulders after becoming the world’s most expensive teenager but he looks like he is thriving off that situation, revelling in the fact people are willing him to fail.

He is ice cool in front of goal, confident in possession and wants the ball at his feet. While we can’t fully judge whether he can continue at this sort of level at United, the initial signs are extremely encouraging for Martial.
