Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri believes Anthony Martial will have a “fantastic career” with Manchester United.
Martial has made a blistering start to life at Man United by scoring three goals in three games.
Eyebrows were raised when United paid £36m for the youngster’s services on deadline day but his critics have been silenced in the last few weeks.
Ranieri, who signed Martial for Monaco when he was in charge of the French club, insisted he will make a big impact at Old Trafford.
“I think it was important for him to score a goal. He was paid a lot of money and the people expect. But let him grow up slowly. He is a fantastic player but it is important he maintain his calm. Let him concentrate on his job and I believe he can have a very fantastic career,” Ranieri said.
When asked if Martial could improve further, Ranieri added: “Yes, but now it is important he shows how he plays.
“At a fantastic moment, he smells it, and switches on.
“I coached him when he was very young. I got him from Lyon, only £5m. I think that was a good thing for Monaco!”
Martial has been nothing short of superb since his arrival and he really does look like the real deal. While it is important for him to keep his feet on the ground, it is hard for supporters not to get excited about the striker. Louis van Gaal will undoubtedly give him the right guidance as he continues his blossoming career.
