Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has been hugely impressed by the start made by new Manchester United signing Anthony Martial.
The youngster has three goals in two Premier League appearances having burst onto the scene following his debut goal against Liverpool.
The 19-year-old’s performances have drawn comparisons with former Arsenal man Thierry Henry, who was a teammate of Keown’s.
Without referencing the resemblance, the former defender still expressed his awe over Martial’s start.
“He’s been absolutely magnificent. They could not have hoped for any more,” Keown said.
“There was a huge transfer fee on his head, but it doesn’t seem to bother him. Every time he is in front of goal he seems to be at his happiest.”
Martial has shown composure beyond his years in his short time on the pitch. He has scored with every shot he has had on target in the league so far and has already provided Man United with an extra bit of dynamism going forward.
The Frenchman has been under immense pressure since his £36m deadline day move from Monaco made him the most expensive teenager in football history. However, he has already started to pay back his astronomical fee with some eye-catching displays. Martial will hope that he has done enough to keep his place in the side and United fans will be eager to see him continue. At just 19, it is obvious that the striker has a huge future ahead of him.
