Napoli plot January move for Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo – report

by Ben Topliss

Napoli are preparing a January move for Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italian side were keen on Rojo over the summer but they failed to prise the Argentine away from Old Trafford.

Napoli have made a disastrous start to the campaign from a defensive point of view and they have gone back in for Rojo as a result.

The player’s future had been in doubt after he failed to make the pre-season tour of the United States but the double leg break Luke Shaw suffered earlier this month means Rojo will be needed for the time being.

Rojo was impressive when he was on the pitch for Man United last term but a number of niggling injuries hampered his progress.

Having missed pre-season, it is clear that he is missing some match fitness but the defender should get up to speed once he gets a run of games under his belt. Napoli may well make a move in the summer but it is unlikely that United will be willing to negotiate.
