Manchester United fans pleased with Memphis Depay display against Sunderland

Manchester United winger Memphis Depay scored his first Premier League goal for the club as Louis van Gaal’s side dismantled Sunderland 3-0 on Saturday.

Memphis kept his place on the left wing from the win against Southampton and broke the deadlock just seconds before half-time. After a beautiful ball from Daley Blind, Juan Mata squared to Memphis for a simple tap-in to give Man United the lead.

The Dutchman seemed to struggled for the majority of the first half, however, as he found it tough to get past his man or deliver decent set-pieces. After the goal, his performance improved and he became much more of a threat in the second half.

United supporters were happy to see Memphis get his first league goal:

It will be a huge relief for Memphis to finally break his league drought and he will hope that he can continue his good form with some crucial games coming up. With Wolfsburg due at Old Trafford on Wednesday before a trip to the Emirates Stadium next week, the 21-year-old could be key to United’s chances.

Memphis will want to pick up where he left off in the Champions League, after an impressive display against PSV Eindhoven in United’s first game. Wolfsburg will provide a stern test, but an on-form Depay can massively improve the side’s chances.
