Bastian Schweinsteiger’s performance against Sunderland impresses Manchester United fans

by Sid Choudhary

Bastian Schweinsteiger came on as a second half substitute as he helped Manchester United beat Sunderland 3-0 on Saturday.

The Germany captain started on the bench as Michael Carrick and Morgan Schneiderlin made up Man United’s midfield pairing.

With important games coming up. it was not a surprise to see Schweinsteiger given a brief rest.

However, when he came on, the 31-year-old immediately took control of the game. He slotted in perfectly and began to dictate the tempo and direction of play. It was the sort of performance, albeit brief, that United fans have come to expect from their midfield maestro and they were delighted to see him in action:

Schweinsteiger will hope to regain his place in the starting lineup when Wolfsburg visit Old Trafford in the Champions League. With the win against Sunderland taking United to the top of the Premier League, they will want to focus on getting their run in Europe going.

Schweinsteiger has played against Wolfsburg countless times over the years from his time in the Bundesliga and plenty of United fans will hope he is given the opportunity to impress against his old rivals.
