Manchester United legend Gary Neville is enjoying his former side being top of the Premier League table.
The Reds defeated Sunderland 3-0 at Old Trafford and after Manchester City lost to Tottenham Hotspur, Man United leapfrogged their city rivals into top spot.
It is the first time in 110 weeks that United are ending a weekend top of the pile, the last time being after David Moyes’ first game in charge of the club.
Fans of the club, Neville included, are delighted to see their team finally where it belongs. With City going through a barren spell having lost two on the trot, the title race has been blown wide open. However, United have an extremely tricky run of fixtures ahead of them including a trip to Arsenal and a visit from City in October.
Glass of red thinking " are we gonna win the league " !! Haha. Nice thought for tonight even if it doesn't happen

It is still early days in the league but it is a refreshing change to see the Reds at the summit. It has been a long time since United were involved in a proper title race and, even with just seven games played, this season could potentially be the one the supporters have been waiting for.
United have a long way to go if they are to be top come the end of the campaign but the early signs are good. With City suffering a dip in form, it could be the idea opportunity for Louis van Gaal‘s men to open up a commanding lead at the top of the league when they make the trip to the Emirates next Sunday.
