Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has revealed that Bastian Schweinsteiger has already been “accepted as a leading player” at Old Trafford.

Schweinsteiger joined Man United from Bayern Munich in the summer and has wasted no time in making his presence felt at his new club.

The German is often vocal and authoritative on the pitch and has endeared himself to fans off it.

Van Gaal has been delighted with the way that Schweinsteiger has settled into life in Manchester.

“He is already accepted as a leading player, this is also why we bought him from Bayern Munich. He is an example for the young players and I’m very happy with him,” van Gaal said.

Schweinsteiger will likely face his old Bundesliga rivals Wolfsburg when they visit Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Almost all of his displays for United so far have been nothing short of superb and he really is going from strength to strength. There were some who questioned Schweinsteiger’s fitness over the summer but he is silencing his critics in some style.
