Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini not worried by table toppers Manchester United

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has insisted he isn’t worried by the fact that Manchester United are top of the Premier League table.

City have suffered back-to-back defeats against Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United in recent weeks and Man United have taken advantage by overtaking them in the league.

The losses have been worrying for City fans as the team had looked imperious in the early stages of the campaign.

However, Pellegrini is refusing to get worked up about the blip in form ahead of City’s clash against Newcastle United on Saturday.

“We are not thinking about who is top of the table,” he said.

“All we are thinking about is a good performance and being top of the table in May at the end of the season. It’s important not to drop more points at home.”

While City have been struggling, United have been going from strength to strength under the tutelage of Louis van Gaal. The team have registered impressive wins against the likes of Southampton, Liverpool and Sunderland and will be in confident mood when they face Arsenal on Sunday.
