Manchester United midfielder Ben Pearson scored a stunning goal while on loan at Barnsley, drawing comparisons with Reds legend Paul Scholes.
The 20-year-old is spending the season at Barnsley and got off the mark for the year with a stunning strike from distance to help his side to a 2-0 win over Gillingham.
The youngster has been hugely impressive during his two loan spells and is touted to have a great future. His goal against Gillingham was certainly reminiscent of Scholes but Pearson is trying not to get too carried away. When asked about his goal, Pearson told Barnsley’s official website: “I’d like to think it was Scholes-esque but I don’t want to make comparisons,”
“I’ve hit it nicely and it’s come off.”
“I think when I have time I’m probably worse for shooting, I’m probably better at instinct strikes, which it was. I practice it a lot those types of shots so I was glad it came off.” Pearson said.
United fans will be excited when watching Pearson and his goal is sure to just add to their anticipation. The 20-year-old’s development has been encouraging and if he can keep putting in impressive performances for Barnsley, it should just be a matter of time before he is back strutting his stuff at Old Trafford.
