Manchester United’s Marcos Rojo withdrawn from Argentina squad with injury

Marcos Rojo has withdrawn from international duty this week with Argentina due to his ongoing hamstring injury troubles.

Rojo was surprisingly called up by Argentina despite the fact a hamstring problem has ruled him out of action with Manchester United for a few weeks.

However, the decision has now been taken to let Rojo stay in Manchester in order for him to recover which is good news from a United perspective.

With Luke Shaw out for the season, Rojo is the only natural left-back who Louis van Gaal has in his squad so it’s important he regains fitness quickly.

There have been plenty of reports over the last two weeks which suggest van Gaal is prepared to sell Rojo this summer after falling out with the Argentinian but they are currently unfounded. That’s not to say they are completely false but until we see Rojo fully fit again, we won’t know whether he is in van Gaal’s plans or not.

Ashley Young stepped in at left-back against Arsenal but having a natural left-back is the ideal situation, so hopefully Rojo can get back to fitness as soon as possible and at least give van Gaal the option in his squad.
