Sergio Romero has no qualms at being forced out of Manchester United’s starting by the returning David de Gea.

Louis van Gaal chose to leave Romero out of his team until his future was resolved and he came back in as soon as the transfer window closed.

Since then, Romero has had to settle for a place on the bench and speaking to Ole in Argentina, the goalkeeper
“I took the matches when I was given the chance to play, but when De Gea renewed it was obvious he was going back to the team.

“De Gea won the place over the years he was there. The coach talked to me and I understood perfectly.”

Will Romero’s career at United follow the Anders Lindegaard route? The Dane was first-choice goalkeeper for a run of games at one stage thanks to in injury to De Gea but was quickly pushed back to the bench upon his return, and he never got that opportunity again.

Unless De Gea leaves or gets injured. he won’t be giving up his No.1 spot but by the looks of it, Romero is happy to simply sit as United’s No.2 without so much of a fuss.
