Juan Mata confident Victor Valdes will bounce back following falling out with Louis van Gaal

Juan Mata believes that Victor Valdes will bounce back from his current problems at Manchester United.

Valdes joined the club in January to complete his rehabilitation from an anterior cruciate ligament injury he sustained whilst at Barcelona, but he has since found himself out of favour under Louis van Gaal.

The Spaniard has been linked with a variety of clubs since his and van Gaal’s fallout was made public, but he has not yet managed to secure a move away.

However, Mata, Valdes’ compatriot, feels the keeper will bounce back from his current off-field problems.

“I don’t know what has happened between Valdes and van Gaal,” he said.

“I stay away from it and support Victor in a difficult moment like this. It is a pity what he is going through, because he is a fantastic goalkeeper. He has the ability to return to competition and show he is a great keeper.”

Now that David De Gea‘s future has been resolved, the matter of Valdes is much less serious than it was a few months ago. However, it is never nice to see what is quite clearly a hugely talented player rotting away in the reserves.

With a first-team spot seemingly out of the picture, it would probably be best for all parties if Valdes was allowed to move on in his career, which at 33, is nearing its end.

All the Spaniard’s presence is doing at the moment is causing potential for unrest in the dressing room, especially amongst Man United’s Spanish contingent, who are rumoured to be unhappy over van Gaal’s treatment of the player. A move away from Old Trafford is probably best for all parties.
